A British national, fluent in Japanese who started as a management consultant specialising in CRM, working for 7 years across multiple sectors and countries. Moved to Philip Morris International (PMI) in Tokyo in 2004 and have enjoyed a fast-track career to Vice President and Managing Director roles across multiple countries. A rare breed with significant experience in both general management and corporate affairs roles - comfortable with improving a P&L - turning around a media crisis and navigating complex governments and regulations. Now based in London with a global remit driving the business development arm within PMI. I have extensive experience in establishing new businesses and transforming existing ones. Within PMI I have been at the forefront of driving the transformation to a new business model, focussed on reduced risk products (RRP) and away from cigarettes. I lead the successful market entry of RRPs in Russia and then the UK. This transformation included a complete shift from a traditional B2B model to a consumer centric, digitally enabled direct-to-consumer business model. This transformation required a complete internal organisational transformation and proactive external engagement with regulators and stakeholders. In my current role I drive the global business development function to establish business conditions for market entry and success of reduced risk products in over 100 countries. My teams encompass skills in research, data analytics, market intelligence, investment planning and international trade. The combination of these tools has been successful in opening markets in a vast array of geographies. I have also been a regular media spokesperson across all channels and regular engage directly with governmental and non governmental stakeholders.
