The Comic Relief/GSK partnership has awarded 27 targeted grants to 25 organisations on the frontline in four malaria-endemic countries in sub-Saharan Africa – Sierra Leone, Ghana, Tanzania and Mozambique - and three countries across the Greater Mekong sub region – Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. These grants are supporting a diverse set of organisations, made up of international and local NGOs, with each funded-partner delivering programmes designed to meet different community and national needs in the fight against malaria. Catholic Relief Services Zambia leads the Epidemic Control project consortium which includes the Churches Health Association of Zambia and Chreso Ministries.Catholic Relief Services- Epidemic Control 90-90-90 supports the Ministry of Health (MOH) in targeted facilities to achieve the UNAIDS Fast Track HIV treatment goals for epidemic control by 2020; 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status, 90% of all people diagnosed with HIV will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy and 90% of all people receiving ART will have viral load suppression.

The cholera research study is to use both empirical evidence and secondary data to investigate the specific constraints in each type of “hotspot” identified in the previous study to be used in effective interventions. Overall management of in-country Bioko Island Malaria Control Project (BIMCP)/National Malaria Control Project (NMCP) M&E activities in liaison with the (NMCP), as well as staff from the National Health Information System (NHIS), and other relevant officials and departments within the Ministry of Health Social Welfare (MOHSW). Training and mentoring NMCP, MOHSW and local staff, to enable them to assume expanded roles and an increasing level of responsibility for project M&E activities, while ensuring the quality and completeness of the BIMCP/NMCP M&E systems and procedures. With backstopping from the home office (US), plan, organize and oversee the implementation of the annual Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS), to include training of survey supervisors and enumerators and survey advance/sampling teams, coordination and supervision of fieldwork, processing of PDA data on a daily basis, cleaning data, merging data sets, analyzing data (using Access and Excel based survey analysis templates), and producing an annual MIS Report (using MIS Report template).Participating in M&E Research: design, data collection, data analysis, writing reports. Examples of OR may include: how innovative approaches (GIS-malaria risk mapping, entomological and epidemiological surveys) and routine data are used in improving program management. This will be undertaken in close coordination with the MOHSW. Assisting in developing and regularly monitoring and updating the BIMCP work plan, with specific reference to the M&E component, in collaboration with the BIMCP COP and the BIMCP Project Manager. Assist in the preparation of progress and other reports as required. Representing MCDI and the BIMCP in relevant meetings with the MOHSW, the NMCP, and partner organizations pertaining to M&E.Appropriately as approved by the home office, participate in malaria-related conferences and workshops, interacting with academic colleagues from LSHTM, Yale, Texas A&M, and technical bodies such as WHO/AFRO.
