Third and final position on the Ford graduate scheme. Focused on developing Level 2 monitoring software for diesel PCMs, with specific responsibilities for Fully Assisted Park Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go. These tasks involved regular meetings with suppliers to ensure adequate progression to meeting targets, as well as testing using HiL rigs. Additionally, I gained extensive experience modelling ISO26262 functional safety requirements and technical safety requirements for 48V mHEV in Systems Modelling Language (SysML) in order to create a SWDVM.

Second position on the Ford graduate scheme was also within EESE, Dunton, working on V36x (Transit & Transit Custom), this time within the Electrical Program Management Team (EPMT). This role involved various tasks, including vehicle fault resolution tracking, whereby I compiled a list of current vehicle issues taken from appraisal drives, and drove these issues to closure by way of daily meetings with EESE management. It also involved compiling vehicle data books, gathering all technical information about new or improved electrical content into a single reference document. This role also involved substantial travel, mostly to Germany where I was the sole EESE program representative at the pilot production plant, making me responsible for driving solutions to prototype build issues. Another part of this placement involved traveling to Ford Otosan manufacturing plant in Turkey, to support vehicle launch. Here, I mostly assumed responsibility for coordinating vehicle testing and production electrical issues, ensuring a swift resolution to these by liaising with the team in Dunton.

First position on the Ford graduate scheme was in the Functional Integration and Software Applications team, part of Electrical and Electronic Systems Engineering (EESE) at Dunton Technical Centre. The role involved working on V36x (Transit & Transit Custom) and required an understanding of the architecture of automotive electrical systems and software, and involved signals analysis using CAN tools, such as CANalyzer and vehicle diagnostics, including reading DTCs, central car configuration and vehicle software using Ford proprietary diagnostic tools. Both of the tools mentioned were utilised for finding and remedying vehicle faults, beginning on mechanical prototypes in Dunton, and eventually leading to working in Cologne, Germany, at a pilot production plant on verification prototypes.

Responsibilities included managing transactions and advising customers, both on purchases, and on a technical support basis, requiring good communication skills, as well as the ability to simplify complicated concepts. I was also given responsibilities in customer management, involving managing customer flow in select areas of the store, and assigning customers to appropriate Specialists in order to keep waiting times to a minimum. As well as sales experience, working at Apple enabled me to gain an in-depth knowledge of operating systems, as well as an expanded knowledge of technology development. My time at Apple also presented me with many difficult situations, such as irate customers and technical issues with devices, both of which required a level head, and problem solving skills to overcome.
