KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Collaborate with senior research staff in the design and management systems (including SOPs, clinical research manual of procedures, work instructions, bid grid) for carrying out research management and support activities. •Ensure that SOPs, work instructions, and manual of procedures complies with US regulations, ICH Guidelines, company SOPs and P&P.•Develop and conduct regular training sessions for research staff on systems.•Maintain records of training described in 3 and 4 above.• Liaise with RAQA on the development and updating of SOPs and work instructions.•Serve as reviewer of SOPs and P&P.•Ensure that study progress is tracked and updated regularly in relevant systems. •Establish meaningful metrics for assessment of status at project, program and/or departmental levels. •Ensure that monthly reviews and reports accurately reflect study activities and progress.•Work with staff department-wide to coordinate efficient assignment of resources.•Coordinate project plans, budgets, training and resources with management to achieve strategic goals.•Work with staff to ensure the planning, execution and finalization of projects according to the contracted scope of work, budget and timelines. •Manages and oversees budget for one or more research projects.•Develops, reviews, and maintains key study documents to ensure adequate resource and reference documentation.•Act as team lead and mentors staff on training, systems, policies, and regulations.•Serves as the liaison with internal and external partners to ensure effective collaborations efforts.•Oversees planning of meetings, site visits, and drafting necessary documents.

Peter Odhiambo is a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) in Global Research Services at Family Health International (FHI). He has over 8 years of experience in Pharmaceutical Industry and skills related to clinical trials in Africa region. He has experience with Phase I, II, III, and IV clinical trials in infectious disease area. Prior to joining FHI 360, he was a Marketing Executive and a CRA at GlaxoSmithKline, Africa region. Over the last 8 years, he has worked in clinical research field by ensuring clinical trials are conducted according to Good Clinical Practice, and are done according to agreed Specific Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Local Regulatory Authorities Requirements. He has managed more than 6 clinical trials over the last eight years, with study durations of six months to more than four years. Peter has laboratory experience in Molecular, Biochemical and Immunological techniques, knowledge of which was gathered during his MS program in Biochemistry. Peter is currently acting as Clinical Operation Manager at GR&S department a role he assumed since January 2013.He has an M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and graduated as Veterinary Surgeon from University of Nairobi with a B.V.M in Veterinary Medicine.
