As the Program Officer for the Vision Impact Project (VIP), I have been responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring key eye health activities across Kiambu County. My contributions include: I led meetings advocating for eye health services and promoting mobile RAAB surveys to enhance data-driven decisions. Spearheaded the establishment of an eye unit at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital, overseeing equipment, medicine, and COVID-19 material distribution to 14 health facilities, boosting service delivery. Organized eye screening campaigns reaching 60% of the population, improving early detection and treatment. Led cataract surgical camps and managed referrals, significantly reducing preventable blindness. Coordinated specialized services, distributed visual aids, and implemented tele-rehabilitation for accessibility. Expanded eye health services in 1,332 schools, ensuring timely interventions for children with vision impairments. Distributed spectacles and low vision aids to improve quality of life and learning outcomes. Managed provisioning of tools and materials for Education Assessment and Resource Centers supporting vulnerable populations. Facilitated training for medical personnel on eye health, Peek technology, and conducted workshops on Inclusive Eye Health. Trained teachers on inclusive education and functionality assessments for students with visual impairments. Coordinated meetings to ensure strategic alignment with partners and stakeholders. Trained eye health coordinators on governance, enhancing local health systems. Led safeguarding sensitization efforts for staff and beneficiaries. Documented lessons learned, promoting improved interventions and knowledge sharing. Supported the M&E team in tracking progress and generating reports. Advocated for policies supporting eye health and evidence-based budgeting.

Siaya, Kenya

1. Managed field work for two concurrently running randomized control trial impact evaluations conducted in Kisumu and Siaya counties, respectively. Bima Pima project (Siaya, Kenya): measuring impact of index insurance product aimed at protecting smallholders against weather hazards. GEM project (Kisumu, Kenya): measuring impact of “micro-franchising” employment training program implemented by the IRC versus unconditional cash transfer on young women in urban informal settlements.2. Work closely with Primary Investigators based at the World Bank, the Center for Global Development, University of California Berkeley, University of Michigan, and University of British Columbia.3. Oversee survey design, programming, piloting, and surveying of samples of between 500 – 300 participants. Surveys include measurements on how much insurance a farmer can choose to buy as opposed to the more commonly studied extensive margin, informal sector employment income, child and adult time use, food security, and household assets, among others.4. Supervised two teams of 6 and 30 staff, respectively, including recruitment, staff training, and team management.

Siaya,Migori And Homa Bay Counties

1. Supported the scale-up of Chlorine Dispensers program at Evidence Action in Kenya from a collection of pilots to 8,500 installations.2. Developed model for 'rolling installations', reducing cost of each installation by 20% from USD 192.3. Supported conceptualization, testing and scale-up of 'circuit-rider' model for on-going delivery to village based promoters. 4. Reached 1 million beneficiaries with more than 100% year-on-year growth by with improving quality of delivery and use.5. Leading program sustainability through partnerships with private and government entities and tapping into innovative revenue-streams like carbon financing and no-interest result-based debt.6. Created best practices for operations and organizational development. Contributing to spin-off of the program into a matrix structure organization and liaising with Evidence Action country team for smooth transition.
