Peter has been actively involved in Malaysia’s biodiversity and environmental sector through his work as Head of Education and Outreach with Roots & Shoots Malaysia and his own wildlife photography and journalism.He has published a photography book to support The Datai Pledge entitled “PRIMUS - The Primates of Peninsular Malaysia”. He also received support from Yayasan Hasanah to publish a paperback version of the book which is now available in all major bookstores in Malaysia. This milestone publication also features a foreword by Dr Jane Goodall, her first foreword for an Asian publication.He also led the documentation and conservation project behind “Wang Kelian - The Forgotten Valley” which resulted in the publication of a book, an exhibition and a documentary on the biodiversity and cultural heritage of Wang Kelian and the surrounding Nakawan Range in collaboration with Perlis Nature and Wildlife as well as with funding from Roots and Shoots Malaysia as well as Think City, supported by The Habitat Foundation and Jabatan Perhutanan Perlis.His work to photograph all of Malaysia’s primate species “Project Monyet” was launched by world renowned biodiversity and environmental advocate Dr Jane Goodall. He has since handled projects pertaining to biodiversity awareness, youth empowerment, sustainability development, ecotourism, as well as digital outreach. He has also worked on developing platforms such as eko-eko.org to highlight the region’s biodiversity and environmental issues.Peter’s latest project is to restore a heritage trail through the Nakawan range in Perlis and to transform it into an ecotourism asset for the local communities and the state.He has also been invited to sit on the Council of Dr Jane Goodall’s Legacy Foundation giving a voice for Asia.
