Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of white-labelled Asterisk/FreePBX telephony systems and their CentOS virtual machines. Troubleshooting and modifying Asterisk dialplans. Support of proprietary hospitality software that interfaces with the PBX, hotel PMS, and other systems like Cisco Call Manager. I rewrote three important pieces of code: an AGI script, a small Perl daemon that updates mailbox settings based on messages passed to activemq, and a caching weather proxy in Python. I've scripted the installation of failover pairs and written Perl scripts and chef recipes to do my more onerous work for me.

Python developer responsible for systems software creation and maintenance. I wrote several internal applications, including syncing RADIUS authentication with internal inventory and IP databases and a generic JSON API for software license management across various vendor license APIs which may use SOAP, plain XML, JSON, or other interfaces.Much of the work involved changes or fixes to the legacy code base in PHP, with some Perl and bash. In general my duties were systems and database intensive. It was a requirement that the front-end work use the Django framework.

On the Linux team, I was responsible for the installation and maintenance of Allston's Linux servers and desktops. The position involved occasional travel to various co-locations in Chicago and New Jersey.There was significant time spent monitoring both servers and network links and interfacing with providers of both rack space and links to troubleshoot often critical issues.I was most proud of the work I did building an internal IT inventory web application using Perl, some Javascript, and PostgreSQL. I also scripted in Perl and bash to automate some of our reduntant or onerous sysadmin tasks, such as testing the network connections to Sun and HP iLOMs/BMCs.

Configured failover clusters of kvm VMs with shared drbd block devices, servingwebsites using Turtol's mtlv Apache module and the open-source TurtolCMS. Muchwork with Apache, LDAP, kvm, VMWare Server, heartbeat, and LVM2. Creation andmaintainence of internal DNS zone. Worked on code of a Python-based image buildingsystem and wrote custom kvm, qemu-ifup, and rc scripts. Compiled many specializedkernels. Wrote simple multi-threaded load-testing tool in C that nonethelessprovided important data. Workstation and server installation and troubleshooting.
