I am a researcher of political economy and economic development with a focus on distributive politics and mobile phone technology in Africa. I am a Ph.D. student in political science at the University of Michigan, where I also earned a master’s degree. I hold a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brigham Young University.I am also a collaborator on a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded project investigating the economic, social, and political effects of women's phone ownership across Tanzania. I have worked with Innovations for Poverty Action-Tanzania on two field experiments: incentivizing savings in mobile money accounts through behavioral nudges and investigating the effect of the duration of mobile phone ownership on local civic engagement.peterpcarroll.com
