I am singing to seniors in care facilities all over the Vancouver Lower Mainland. They enjoy my singalongs, laugh and dance in their wheelchairs. Senior Care centers are closing their doors to all entertainers and visitors. Then, a flicker, a ray of hope, when the phone rings and a voice answers, “Yes, hello, are you still delivering singing telegrams? I respond, suppressing a tiny bit of excitement, “Why, yes I am. “With social distancing and safety protocol?” a lady asks. “Yes, I reply confidently.” She requests for me to sing Happy Birthday to her close family friend who is turning 90 and is battling cancer. Could I also deliver balloons and sing Engelbert Humperdinck uplifting songs to her from the sidewalk up to her patio.With excitement I arrive on the scene and set up my battery operated speaker system on the sidewalk as family and friends bring her out on the patio, in her wheelchair. She is wearing a princess crown, grinning ear to ear as I begin singing. She sings along with every song as the family sends me an overwhelming applause.“I was scrambling to find the perfect singer to visit my family's close friend Margaret on her 90th Birthday!! This surprise was something very special and extremely important to me as Margaret has been battling cancer and I wanted someone very upbeat, caring, and joyful. Peter certainly delivered; he had Margaret clapping, tapping her foot, and with a BIG smile on her face. It brought tears to our eyes seeing her so happy; it couldn't have gone any better! We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt the warmth of Peter's caring heart and soulful voice. I would definitely hire him again; he is such a great person!
