Incubated inside Aon, QoIP examines a target’s IP-to-business alignment and compares its patent portfolio to a competitive benchmark, to help dealmakers make more informed transaction decisions. QoIP directly complements Jamster’s existing solutions for IP licensing, strategy and capital formation, creating a uniquely broad platform to serve our clients more completely.

Aon is a global leader in risk capital and human capital solutions. I joined the firm in 2019 to expand the IP Solutions practice, a high-growth business unit with a mandate to introduce and scale innovative solutions that help IP-rich companies manage risk, raise capital and realize shareholder value. My role focused on packaging our IP capabilities in an offering for the M&A market, where Aon serves private equity sponsors and corporate clients across thousands of deals per year. To that end, I co-founded the Quality of IP practice, filling an unmet market need for IP intelligence optimized for dealmakers. As head of the QoIP business, I recruited a team of consultants to advance product development and scale capacity, and I led sales and origination. The result was >45 completed assignments and the establishment of a net-new advisory solution for the M&A market. In addition to my QoIP responsibilities, I drove origination for Aon’s core M&A and transaction solutions including reps and warranties, litigation, tax, D&O and cyber insurance, and I supported the IP-backed lending practice. In 2024, I spun the QoIP product and team out of Aon and into an IP-focused advisory firm.

Stifel is a middle market investment bank, focused on emerging growth sectors including technology, healthcare, industrial growth, consumer and financial institutions. I served as Managing Director and co-head of the Electronics and Applied Technologies Investment Banking practice, with a direct focus on the semiconductor and IP sectors. In this role, I originated and executed M&A advisory transactions, including public and private deals for companies with substantial IP portfolios that were central to the creation of enterprise value. I also originated and executed public offerings and private placements of equity for high-growth, innovative companies. As a group head, I was responsible for recruiting and training junior bankers, and I collaborated with peers across other industry and product groups including capital markets, sponsor coverage, restructuring and M&A. In 2019 I was recruited to build an IP transaction advisory practice for a global insurance company.

RPX Corp is the leading provider of patent risk management solutions, offering defensive patent acquisitions, patent intelligence and related services to its network of >250 member companies. RPX is the largest buyer of patents in the open market, and it also arranges structured acquisitions for its members. These syndicated transactions enable multiple companies to license or acquire patents simultaneously, avoiding or resolving patent litigation and driving cost savings. RPX was founded in 2008, went public in 2011, and was taken private by HGGC in 2018. I served as RPX’s investment banker in its IPO and later joined the Company as VP Corporate Development. In that role I built acquisition syndicates funded by RPX members, intended to finance the purchase of patent portfolios or license rights from patent owners ranging from public companies to privately held NPEs. I also focused on corporate strategy, M&A and investor relations, with direct management of a $200M+ strategic acquisition and an activist defense situation.

Cowen is a middle market investment bank focused on growth sectors including technology, healthcare, industrials, sustainability and consumer. I joined the firm as Vice President in the Technology Investment Banking Group, initially managing deal execution across M&A and equities. Over the course of my decade with Cowen, I advanced to the role of Managing Director with increasing specialization in innovation-driven sectors characterized by heavy IP investment, including semiconductors, digital media, IP licensing and cleantech. At Cowen I gained deep experience advising premier IP licensing companies including RPX Corp (IPO, follow-on), Tessera (IPO, follow-on), Virage Logic (M&A), IP Navigation (debt placement), DTS (M&A) and DivX (IPO). In 2013 I left Cowen to run corporate development for a client.

SoundView Technology Group was an equity research-driven investment bank focused exclusively on the technology sector. I joined SoundView as Vice President , Investment Banking, focused on coverage of the semiconductor capital equipment sector. Less than one year later, SoundView was acquired by a competitor.

Robertson Stephens was a premier growth-focused investment bank based in San Francisco, with leading market share in equities and M&A in the technology, health care and consumer sectors. I joined the firm as Associate, Technology Investment Banking in 1999 and was initially responsible for the execution of equity and M&A transactions across the internet and semiconductor sectors during the tech IPO boom. In 2001, I moved from San Francisco to London to enhance client coverage and deal execution in the semiconductor and tech hardware sectors across Europe. Robertson Stephens was ultimately (and sadly) shut down in 2003 due to the collapse of the technology sector and the resulting turmoil in the financial markets.

Chase Securities was the investment banking unit of the Chase Manhattan Bank, which ultimately merged with JPMorgan. I entered Chase in 1994 as a Financial Analyst, passed through a comprehensive training program focused on financial accounting and credit, and earned a position in the M&A group. During my three years as an M&A analyst, I was responsible for extensive valuation work and transaction support across multiple industries including technology and insurance. In 1997 I left Chase to pursue my MBA.
