I have over 36 years’ experience of working in the construction materials and products industry and have undertaken a variety of roles, including technical, supervisory and management within a building products company technical department, R&D and test laboratory. I am currently Testing Services Manager running the company's UKAS accredited test laboratory and overseeing a clay products test laboratory. I consider myself highly versatile with a wide knowledge of building products and the industry including Aircrete & aggregate blocks and their manufacturing processes and materials. I have a very good knowledge of building regulations, codes of practice, product end use applications and environmental/sustainability subjects and have the ability to give technical advice on all these. I have been actively involved in the development of European masonry product specifications and through membership of industry trade associations have helped to influence UK building regulations. I have a good technical and commercial perspective of the building product industry with the ability to communicate at all levels, from factory through to Sales, Marketing, Housebuilders and specifiers.

Managing UKAS Test Laboratory and activities of a team of Technologists and Technicians.  Involved with numerous projects, site visits, assisting with the development and testing of new company products, including: Thin Joint masonry mortar and Trenchblock systems, Acoustic site testing. Testing for BSI & BBA product audits. Providing technical support to the company with wide knowledge of product use including Marley roof tiles and Aircrete block systems. Providing support to Technical Advisory with customer response and covering customer enquiries.  Interpretation of technical/scientific documentation and dissemination of information  Undertaking formal presentations on use of company products, technical applications etc  Administering the UKAS EN ISO17045 Quality system as both ‘Quality’ and ‘Technical’ Manager.  Undertaking internal audits of the quality system & test procedures and maintaining accurate records and test databases.  Maintenance of Laboratory budget and spend to set targets and management of commercial testing  Chairperson of the Laboratory Health and Safety Committee - involved with procedural risk assessments, safe systems of work, COSHH, Legionella assessments, audits, H&S improvements etc. 
