Graduated BSc from the University of Sydney in 1967, with an external MSc on Ethiopia Bouguer Gravity in 1981. Worked with WAPET in Western Australia and Continental Oil in New Guinea, before transfer to the USA (1970-73) and work on Conoco projects in Africa, Asia and Australia. Managed Whitestone operations in Kenya and Ethiopia (1973-77) and Australia (1978-80). Formed P & R Geological Consultants Pty Ltd with geologist wife Robyn in 1980 and continues to work as an independent petroleum exploration and management consultant. Since 2008, has been involved with French research group working on the Ethiopian Rift. Editor of several books on Western Australian geology and author of numerous articles on geology and petroleum exploration, as well as environmental and aboriginal issues. Member of AAPG, PESA, ASEG and AIG.
