I was responsible for building the Foundation. Building the board was a great experience and together we wrote further enhanced the polcies and procedures for the KRL Foundation. We developed a strategic plan, development plan and marketing plan to raise awareness of the KRLF throughout Kitsap County through Dinner with an Author events. I was successful in being part of a team in writing the largest grants that KRL had received for a teen tech mobile. I resposible for the cultivation and stewardship which lead to a $1 million gift to KRLF immediately after I left the position. This One of the largest gifts ever given to any nonprofit in Kitsap County at the time. Successful for the collaborative collection from the Foundation Center in NYC to bring their resources to Kitsap County main branch which supports all nonprofits in Kitsap County. Developed board committees, development training, and building special events to highlight the KRL Foundation and raise significant awarenes and dollars.

The Seattle Public Library Foundation with a $56 million dollar endowment is the second largest library foundation in the country. The Northwest Kidney Centers (NKC) is a $65 million dollar non-profit agency with 13 dialysis centers. In addition to in-center treatments, NKC also provides home hemodialysis, educational support, transportation, emergency assistance, and other support programs for people living with chronic kidney disease.Responsible for raising $1.8 million dollars annually for NKC equipment and services for kidney patients based on the needs and program growth for the year.Identified $2 million dollars to establish the Kidney Research Institute in partnership with the University of Washington, School of Medicine Division of Nephrology.Identify and recruit, with support of Board members, volunteer leadership with asking power.Challenge and excite the Foundation Board, provide visionary leadership to the Foundation and Foundation board to significantly grow NKC philanthropy.Design, develop, and provide training aids and materials to assist volunteers and board members in cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.Interview, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate development staff and provide strong leadership, clear goals, and instill a work ethic with a positive style of public relations.Assume overall responsibility and accounting for all activities related to the Northwest Kidney Centers Foundation. The Seattle Lighthouse for the Blind is a $25 million dollar non-profit organization with a $9 million dollar endowment, which provides employment opportunities, training and support services to people who are blind, Deaf-Blind and multi-disabled blind since 1918. There are 350 employees in an 180,000 sq.ft. building in the Rainier Valley. It is one of the world's largest employers of Deaf-Blind people.Responsible for raising money in order to maintain and assure quality programs and services for people who are blind, Deaf-Blind, and multi-disabled blind via annual giving, major gifts, grant writing, planned giving, in-kind solicitations, etc.Responsible for writing internal and external newsletters, brochures, annual report, and other fundraising publications.Served on the board development committee, staff employee action committee, CTR committee, and staff housing committee.Developed a speaker's bureau, presentations to service clubs, companies, and foundations with Deaf-Blind people in order to empower them and promote leadership skills.Developed relationships with media, Chamber of Commerce, etc.Researched major donors throughout the Puget Sound region.Obtained a $2.5 million dollar federal grant appropriation for the Deaf-Blind Program and was instrumental in lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C.Over a million dollars raised in corporate, foundation, individual, and earned income projects in 1999.$3,250,000 raised as the result of the planned giving campaign in 1999. $2,000,000 pledge for September 2000.

Located in three locations and several homes, it serves 800 participants and employs 175 staff.Responsible for all fundraising efforts, capital campaign, grant writing, United Way, Board solicitation, special events, planned giving, volunteer committees, etc.Responsible for writing brochures, annual report, public relations plan, development plan, publications, conducted workshops, etc.Active participant in fundraising in the Indian community.Supervised a four member development team, volunteers, and support staff.Capital campaign raised $10,000,000 million dollars.$1,000,000 raised annually by the development department.

The Providence Center is a $6 million dollar agency serving people with developmental disabilities in 10 locations providing a variety of employment opportunities and training. There are 500 participants and 125 staff members.Responsible for creating a development department to include ongoing fundraising, direct mail, grant writing, special events, capital and annual campaigns.Supervised five members of the development team and support staff.Raising $800,000 annually.
