Major achievements in this role include:- Leadership of original venture capital backed finance deal plus bank funded invoice discounting facility for working capital demands.- Responsible for the successful transition from VC backed finance to a vertically integrated industrial Italian partner.- Accountable for design, specification, negotiation and delivery of all plant and equipment including on time delivery of several building projects for manufacture and warehousing against tight deadlines.- Guiding the business through extremely rapid growth programme to arrive at sector market leader in the UK together with international product placement and recognition.- Meeting the objective of being the lowest cost manufacturer in the sector through close management of specific KPI’s.- Set up of BRC/IoP hygiene standards. Major responsibilities included full P&L accountability for a £58m pan European business operating across the UK, France and Belgium employing 400 staff. In addition, I retained direct responsibility for four operating sites, two in the UK and two in Continental Europe. Given the company’s rapid growth my primary task was to implement professionalised management and financial controls befitting an enlarged Group.

Major responsibilities in this role included control of all manufacturing operations and warehousing. This entailed two operating sites with a combined turnover of £13m up until 2001. Following the acquisition of a major competitor a further four sites were inherited taking the Group to £54m turnover. This move prompted the turnaround of a failing £25m operation losing £250 per month for the first three months following acquisition.
