With over 25 years of management experience in government and large organisations, I am an accomplished communications specialist. My expertise extends to crisis management, where I consistently demonstrate calm and strategic thinking in navigating challenging situations. In addition to my role as a communications specialist, I have worked as a management consultant, focusing on improving and optimizing process management systems. I possess a deep understanding of the media landscape and have forged strong relationships with journalists. I excel in developing comprehensive crisis communication plans and utilising strategic thinking to maximise the impact of communication efforts. My journey in communications has been a fascinating and diverse one. From my early days in the theatre, touring on many major productions, to serving as the Pope's trusted stage manager, I have always thrived on delivering exceptional experiences. As a sound engineer, I had the honour of working with Prince Charles, ensuring flawless audio for a number of engagements. And yes, I even embraced the whimsical role of the Easter Bunny, spreading joy during festive celebrations. As a leader, I have successfully led a team of 100 bush firefighters, liaising with multiple agencies to combat wildfires and protect vulnerable communities. I have also coordinated media liaison for high-profile events, such as the Tony Bullimore rescue operation, where I ensured accurate and timely information dissemination for the Australian Navy.In addition to my hands-on experiences, I have excelled in the digital realm. I set up an award-winning website that garnered an impressive 40,000 hits per week within its first year, showcasing my proficiency in web development and online communication.Notably, in 2003, I served as the Coalition Forces Media Director in Iraq, overseeing strategic communication initiatives and managing media relations for the coalition forces.
