Left school at the age of 16 and served a 5 year Steeplejack apprenticeship which gave me a great insight to a wide range of access techniques to tall structures. Spent a further 5 years working on Site before joining the management team and began learning the other side of the business. One of my main ambitions was to diversify the business from purely Chimney maintenance to Bridge repair work and Rock Stabilisation, here we started winning many interesting projects both nationally and internationally. Another new string to the company’s bow was in the Nuclear Market, many years ago we were maintaining 2 large concrete structures at a Nuclear site and were fortunate to be approached by the client to participate in the dismantling of the Structures which was to be one of the first Nuclear decommissioning Projects to be carried out in the UK. To date we have carried out over 4 million man hours of Nuclear decommissioning and this market now accounts for over 50% of the company’s turnover. Another growth market is in the Middle East where we have teamed up with Rezayat Trading who have offices in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE and Qatar and over the past 15 years we have accounted on our traditional market of Chimneys, Flare Stacks and Cooling Towers. A recent award is a 5 year Contract for the Inspection and maintenance of the 1000ft tall Torch Tower in Qatar.
