Australian Associated Press (AAP) is Australia's real time newswire agency which in 1995, when he first joined, employed over 200 journalists and 1,000 other staff. As COO Peter was responsible for the Human resources, legal and property divisions as well as the main operating subsidiary, AAPCS, which contributed about 30% of total Group revenues. Peter became COO of AAP at a time of major reductions in revenues, restructuring and consolidation for the business following divestment of its interests in AAPT and Vodafone. He led cost reduction initiatives that resulted in 40% costs saving in the Group's major subsidiary as well as cost reductions in the Group. He was deeply involved, under the leadership of the Group CEO, in rebuilding the company and the development of new products that re-established AAP as a viable media business. He left AAP Group in 2004 to take the leadership of the company that is now Kordia but was then a subsidiary of AAP.

He played a leading role, with others, in the AUD1.6 Billion upgrade of Australia's airports from 1988 to 1995 and developed strategies and implemented new contractual and management approaches that resulted in less than only $500k of successful contractors claims. He led the successful defence of environmental approvals of major projects. He participated in the establishment of the FAC's AUD600 Million borrowing programme, including a Eurobond issue. He sat on various major project control groups, the Planning and Budget Committee and the Executive Committee. The eventual privatisation of the FAC netted in excess of AUD9.4 Billion for the Australian Government.
