My primary responsibilities are to deliver proactive risk identification and management, and to provide effective challenge driving the risk organisation towards a strong and sustainable control environment. Key Accountabilities•Influence current and future design controls by review, challenge and assessment and development of appropriate remediation as required.•Ensure that senior stakeholders are supported and advised when making risk controls related decisions by managing updates of concise and timely information to senior management, audit and regulatory requests and ensuring appropriate escalation.

My primary responsibilities were to ensure that the Citi AI and FS businesses adhered to all applicable regulatory requirements e.g. Annex II, and Citi corporate operational risk policies e.g. manual payments, and to identify and mitigate potential operational risks. I managed the internal control review and self assessment program ensuring that an effective and robust control environment was maintained and enhanced if required. I ensured that this was achieved by managing the implementation of new or amended risk policies, co-ordinating and critically reviewing the processes, risks, controls and monitoring methods and analysing relevant results. I communicated consistently and effectively with the business regarding the importance of recognising and mitigating risk.Key achievements:• Co-ordinated and reviewed the Manager Control Assessment (MCA) programme • Directed incident, fraud and loss identification and reporting processes, and recommended and approved corrective and preventative actions• MIS completion for external and internal requirements, including reporting to the Central Bank of Ireland and monthly business risk and control reporting.• Administered external and internal audits, compliance assessments and fiduciary reviews• Managed the SOC1 process• Managed the governance of outsourced functions, including due diligence reviews• Implemented new or revised regulatory and corporate risk policies

Key achievements:• Successfully managed a fund accounting team of 14 to value a wide variety of diverse hedge funds accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner. • Actively identified potential risks and brought forward proposals to mitigate these. • Valued financial investment instruments including equities, bonds, futures, CDSs, CDOs, spot/hedge forwards, swaps, options & private placements. • Completed performance fee calculations including equalization and series of shares.

The role in Daiwa was very similar to the fund accounting role in Citi AI Funds Services, which was to manage a team to successfully value hedge funds accurately and in a timely manner. The major difference being that most Daiwa funds were valued daily & this brought additional requirements for contingency planning & resourcing.Please note that I left Daiwa in October 1999 to go travelling and when I returned in October 2000 I re-joined Daiwa.
