38 years of wildlife medicine-working on all South African species with particular reference to rhino (1500 plus rhino immobilisations) especially for relocation ,poaching wound treatments and horn trimming (dehorning ) purposes. Have participated in the hand rearing of many orphaned rhino calves (mothers poached for their horns ). As far as cheetah concerned -1000 plus immobilisations for management ,treatment , disease testing and translocation purposes . Also involved in disease free buffalo breeding program between 2000 and 2010-carried out at least 2000 immobilisations screening for diseases prior to being allowed to be translocated to new destinations .Hundreds of other species immobilisations during the course of my ongoing career .

  I qualified from University of Pretoria ,Faculty of Veterinary Science in 1984. This was followed by 3 years in private practice and then I joined the then Natal Parks Board in September 1987 and worked there,mainly with rhinos until I joined the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (Cheetah Project) in January 1995 working mainly with cheetahs and orphaned rhinos (mothers shot by poachers ).I then started my own practice -Provet Wildlife Services in January 2002 focussing mainly on wildlife but the need arose for a domestic animal service in Hoedspruit which gave rise to the Provet Animal Hospital in 2005
