Associate Director, StrategyNsw Department Of EducationSydney, Nsw, Au -
Strategy ManagerNsw Department Of Education Oct 2021 - PresentSydney, New South Wales, AustraliaThe development of the Department's Plan for NSW Public Education has represented a unique opportunity to shape the direction of public education for the current and future students and educators of NSW.Achievements- Development of a new suite of performance targets through to 2027 for the 700,000 plus students and 70,000 plus teaching staff, and 2,200 pls schools. This has involved extensive consultation and collaboration across the department with educators, data leads and other SME's. - Establishing a twice yearly report by the Secretary to schools on plan progress.- Establishing a cycle of annual reporting and dialogue with our education partners. This will create a forum with each of our partners to discuss the Plan's implementation and impact, as measure by the success measures.- Establishing five priority equity groups at the centre of the plan - Aboriginal students, students in regional, rural and remote NSW, students with a disability; students who speak English as a second language or dialect (EALD); student with low socio-educational advantage. - Developing a suite equity targets for each of these student groups. To achieve this I established an internal equity advisory group. - Undertaking early consultation with school staff, leaders and executives to understand what they valued most about the previous plan, what we could be carried forward; and where the new plan represented an opportunity for new directions and priorities. I'm deeply grateful to all the staff myself and my colleagues met with, and the very authentic conversations that provided much insight. This consultation allowed for continuity where it was valued, and innovation where it was required. We are now embarking on the implementation phase for 'Our Plan'. This exciting phase offers opportunities for consolidation around effective programs and supports, and the opportunity and challenge to innovate. I'm excited about this next phase for Our Plan for NSW Public Education! -
