Senior Network Architect
CurrentJoined the Elsevier ‘End User Computing’ group (EUC) and assisted in spinning out Elsevier's network services from the parent RELX IT organisation. Two phased approach of ‘Transition’ and then ‘Transformation’ has enabled Elsevier to take direct control of all elements of its data network infrastructure and then vastly improve them. Key achievements include:- Helped EUC Management team develop, articulate, budget, and implement an Elsevier network strategy. This included onboarding a new global network engineering and support organisation and from green-field, building processes, tooling, and a core network ready for service transition.- Domain architecture of all standard network infrastructure patterns, collaborating with EUC Enterprise Architecture colleague and Elsevier Infrastructure Architecture team- Actively involved in the transition of multiple global network services to Elsevier management- Created a methodology for objective service evaluation and vendor comparison. This was initially used to select a security infrastructure partner and has since been used for all major network services. It has now been adopted by other RELX Business Units.- Produced designs and documentation for key services, coordinating with engineering colleagues and Information Security, and ensuring Information Security policy compliance- Provided network strategy and design for all M&A initiatives through to early 2020, and when required due to resource constraints implemented the network infrastructure- Maintain on-going network strategy, including focus on Zero Trust- Collaborate with peers in other RELX Business Units, and currently mentoring a network engineer on a career path to architecture
