Led the group that designed, developed & deployed BlackBerry's Dev Sec Ops Product Security Software Tools suite. Tools were designed to track software vulnerabilities in 3rd party Open-Source libraries & correlate those to BlackBerry's products. Tools were also developed to provide Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) details for sales teams. Group comprised several teams focusing on software & database development, software testing & test tool automation & security engineering. Mentored & developed managers & individual contributors reporting to me & from other BlackBerry departments.- Improved system stability by introducing high availability, reliability, replication & redundancy. - Implemented architecture principles & recurring 3 year planning cycles.- Merged two disparate development groups into one cohesive team: one focused on Windows/C# Web UI systems, the other on Linux/C++ server systems.- Championed "Bench Program" cohort through year-long stretch exercise, exposing them to all aspects of product feasibility development.- Authored "the effectiveness manifesto", a book describing fundamental behaviors necessary for career success.

This allowed BlackBerry to provide compliant Lawful Access services in all the regions and countries in which it operates. - Directed the design, development & deployment of the Lawful Access solution from its inception in 2010 to the present. - Protected valuable device markets by leading the development of external Lawful Access solutions for use in the Middle East. - Saved over $500,000 by retiring old systems and canceling unnecessary contracts. - Avoided $1,000,000 severance payments by transferring valuable employees to other departments. - Maintained markets by preparing & delivering technical presentations to foreign Government agencies. - Aligned Lawful Access delivery times with customer facing product releases by evangelizing Lawful Access within the company. - Improved traffic capture capacity by 50% by directing the re-architecture of the interception system. - Directed the design and development of secure Lawful Access appliances by using commodity hardware. - Reduced future costs by engaging vendors to integrate BlackBerry's solutions into their Lawful Access systems. - Established and maintained ongoing relationships with external Lawful Intercept vendors and Law Enforcement Agencies.

Mitel is a leading global provider of enterprise and small business communications solutions and services, specializing in telephony products in both the existing PBX and emerging VOIP sectors.Responsible for ensuring the smooth management of Mitel's 24x7 customer facing AMC servers located in Boston and Seattle. Duties included ensuring database replication system between the hosts was functioning, database management, managing remote backups, uploading customer visible software updates, DNS domain registration on behalf of customers, liaising with the engineering team on new feature migration, fail over management of master/slave including regular failover tests, disaster recovery implementation and testing. Also responsible for the management of the Ottawa based engineering team's development environment including Linux workstations, file and print serving, network management, local backups, remote access and e-mail management.

e-smith developed a Linux based SME server product designed to act as a firewall, internet gateway, file and mail server with a simple, intuitive configuration interface. e-smith was acquired by Mitel Networks Corporation in June 2001.Responsible for the management of the e-smith development environment. Duties included day-to-day system administration, commissioning of new hardware, VPN management between the Ottawa and Boston offices, managing backups, disaster recovery planning and testing, coordinating with Mitel personnel during the relocation from down-town Ottawa to Kanata. As a software developer, was responsible for implementing several features in the e-smith Server and Gateway product.

Telstra is the major telecommunications provider in AustraliaResponsible for maintaining the development environment for the group's 60+ software developers and their test bed. Duties involved planning network configuration, hardware and software evaluations prior to purchase, software installation and testing, automated server building, procedure development and implementation, and staff training.
