Following the success of the film ‘The Way Home’, a story about five homeless veterans, Scheer’s most recent documentary project ‘Broken Lines’, examines the life of a young man who was hell bent on destroying himself only to be saved, surprisingly, by a near-fatal car accident. Our film won the Manhattan Film Festival short film category. Now distributed by Human Relations Media. Since he was a young child, Austin G. was afflicted with ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome, impulse control, and chronic anxiety. These innate conditions soon manifested in arrogant and disruptive behavior, and, by age 12, alcohol and drug abuse. All of these afflictions led to a tragic mistake that nearly killed him. This documentary's arc take us from being Devil to Angel - the time before, and immediately after, his near fatal collision, which resulted in severe bodily injuries, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) along with partial blindness and deafness, and to become a man years later who earned a PhD in psychology. Peter Scheer as filmmaker, independent producer and visual artist, is the founder and president of PILOTLIGHT Films, a media development and production company. He is a world-class traveler and film journalist whose subjects focus attention on the human experience. The intent is to enlighten, educate and raise awareness about the environment, human relations, social values and current challenges of the day. I have dedicated my entire professional life to finding positive ways of using this remarkable medium to that end.
