From January 2012 till december 2017 I worked as foreign correspondent in South America and was based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I reported on all relevant news from Argentina, Uruguay and Chile and wrote numerous feature stories. I also did reporting from crisis-struck Venezuela. Studio Baires is an independent production team based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The team provides a full range of journalistic and audiovisual productions. RTL Nieuws is a leading Dutch television news service produced by RTL Nederland. The national and international news service produces 17 bulletins each weekday and six weekend bulletins reaching a total audience of about 1.5 million people. For the daily national newspaper De Pers ('The Press') I was the correspondent for South America. Until the paper abruptly went bankrupt, I wrote articles on issues ranging from politics to pop-music and from trade economics to tango.

‘Omroep West’ is the largest local broadcaster in The Netherlands with over 3 million media consumers. My job as editor primarily focused on writing and editing news stories for the website, editing video news broadcasts en directing the social media effort.

My primary responsibilities were writing advisory reports and hands-on manuals for the Mayor and Alderman of The Hague on issues ranging from public communication in general, to dealing with community feedback and how to translate policies into practice by using media outlets and new media technologies. I also advised top ranking civil servants on dealing with politically sensitive dossiers.I have successfully managed the communication strategy of several large urban planning projects by training decision makers to communicate with local communities and improving their presentation skills.

As president of Young Labour I was responsible for two full-time employees and presided over a team of seven board members. During my presidency Young Labour ran more then ten campaigns ranging from general elections, campaigns for better student housing and marches supporting equal pay for women. It was a political environment in which I often had to negotiate, lobby, represent or participate in political discourse. The yearly budget responsibility of the board of Young Labour was approximately 425.000 euros.Parallel to my presidency I was a member of the national board of the Dutch Labour Party thus being part of the political decision making process. The yearly budget responsibility of the party amounted to about 4 million euros.
