About Peter Semple
My approach to landscape architecture is to design for the end user and meeting the clients expectations. Both are integral to the process through collaboration and engagement. I also seek to integrate a layering of the landscape to seek opportunities in providing cultural & environmental influences that respects and enhances the ‘Genus Loci’ (sense of place). This instills a sense of harmony that inspires ownership ensuring activity and longevity to the success of those spaces. People are spending less and less time outdoors lifes pressures and demands is having a toxic effect on human development and health. Through my work as a nature play consultant and landscape architect I understand the requirements on creating spaces that can benefit human developmental attributes and overall wellbeing to create happy and healthy communities.

A return to Ireland was on the cards with an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and best Landscape Architectural firms in Ireland. Ireland was experiencing significant growth and developments were a plenty not only in Ireland but in Western Europe. Joining as a project landscape architect I was involved in numerous planning development applications including residential, commercial, health, tourism and industrial. Documentation included a Roof top plaza for Historic Comber Mill, Health Centres in West Belfast and streetscape upgrade for Athlone. A key project during my time at Parkhood was a high rised mixed use precinct in Mogosoaia, Romania. This project was taken through to documentation and included site visit and project coordination . After travelling through Australia I was fortunate to gain not only employment but sponsorship at SPLAT with the active support of the Director Stephen Pate. Not only did we have a rad crew (surfers terminology) but an excellent location overlooking the Brisbane River, oh yes and the work was pretty exciting too. Big budgets, idilic sites, and continuous sunshine. A mild contrast from Ireland. Early exposure was as a Landscape Technician working on larges scale subdivision for development superpowers such as Stockland and Delfin Lend Lease. During my last 2 years I was part of a small team developing and implementing the Strategic Masterplan for Brisbane Airport. A very exciting and complex project that exposed me to all levels of the design process from masterplan through to contract administration. Through natural transition my exposure level on this project increased until I departed for Ireland as the Project Landscape Architect. Also during this time I also had input on other high profile projects including Southbank Parkland an iconic tourist and commercial district in Brisbanes CBD.Project ExperienceBoardwalk at Coolum, Large scale Subdivision, StocklandsBuderium Rainforest SubdivisionSouthbank Parklands, Strategic improvementsBrisbane Airport strategic MasterplanBrisbane Airport Masterplan Implementation includingAirport DriveDFO shopping precinctSpine ParkBrisbane Airport Corporation HQInternational terminal Multi Level CarparkDomestic Terminal Environmental ImprovementsDa Vinci New Technology Precinct MasterplanNo1 Airport Masterplan
