Peter Sest practices principally in taxation, commercial and administrative law. He acts for private and governmental clients in the federal and state jurisdictions.He has been a member of the Victorian Bar since 1990. He took silk in 2012. Before joining the Bar he was a solicitor in both private and public practice for 6 years. His professional experience includes:• extensive representation of taxpayers and government revenue agencies (federal and state) in tax and tax-related proceedings of all kinds, including challenge and recovery proceedings• a broad commercial and civil practice encompassing equity, trusts, corporations, contract, property, tort, and competition and consumer law• judicial and merits review proceedings• regulatory and disciplinary proceedings• public inquiries (including the Tricontinental Royal Commission)• commercial crime, including indictable tax fraud (trial by jury) and proceeds of crime Peter advises and acts at all stages of the dispute resolution process, including pre-dispute advice, preparation and approach, alternative dispute resolution, and trial and appellate litigation.
