IT Technology - ISO 10303 STEP implementation, PDQ, LTDRMy educational activity is focused primarily on ISO 10303 STEP (including lectures, labs and home tasks). I use "Visual EXPRESS" by EPM Technology and my own "STEP Kit" based on my SDAI implementation in Labs and hometasks. Now I extend the field of educational activities with product data quality and long-term data retention issues.

I had developed STEP post-processor for “APM Studio” CAD and since 2008 I being developing checker/healer for STEP models. Now this checker is SASIG PDQ-based, but I have the intention to implement ISO 10303 in checker development. Furthermore, I developed ACIS .sat postprocessor for APM Studio. In 2000-2001 I took part in the development of educational & training courses on CALS initiative. Since 2008 I take part in activities on STEP parts translation to Russian (This work is meaningless & useless, I believe, but it allows me to insight to the relevant state of STEP standard. In particular, I had translated ISO 10303-59 in 2011).

I participate in software development and in researches on product data quality, including the researches, ordered by Sukhoy Design Bureau (2006-2009). In 2007 I initiated the development of STEP viewer allowing view and investigate STEP geometry & product structure. There was intention to add the editing functionality for viewer, so this software was named "STEP CAD". This development is not completed yet due to extinction of funding.

Top Systems Inc., is one of Russian leaders in the field of CAD development (T-Flex CAD etc.), in 1997 the first purely Russian STEP converter was developed for T-Flex CAD with my SDAI implementation. Additionally, I developed IGES pre- & postprocessor for T-Flex CAD. Since 2000 the level of my involvement in Top Systems' activities was reduced due to I was busied hard in another projects. In 2006-2008 I took part in activities on implementing data communicating between CERN’s CAE system GEANT4 and CATIA v5 via ISO 10303 STEP. These activities were supported by the INTAS grant 06-1000012-8778. My contributions in joint efforts were: 1.STEP review where main principles of communicating had been outlined and 2. Experimental implementation of STEP pre- & post-processors for GEANT4.

I had developed STEP pre- & post-processors for “Lotsia PDM”-system. The both software items can be set to work with any EXPRESS-schema, i.e. STEP AP.

I took part in the development of recommendations for Russian industry in data standardization domain. I carried out research on CAD interoperability with STEP & outlined STEP-based PDM system.

The mission of NTO “Integro” was to develop suggestion on CALS (Continuous Acquisition & Life-Cycle Support) implementation in Russian industry. I took part in software development, including software tools for STEP exchange file (ISO 10303-21) handling. My primarily responsibilities were consulting services on CAD implementation in activities of design departments. Concurrently I took part in the development of software tools for data communicating between PATRAN FEM pre-processor and ASKA FEA system. In 1987 – 1989 I collaborated with Lab 58 of Institute of Control Problems on multi-processor computer PS-2000.

First time my research efforts were focused on advanced multi-use space vehicles, but since establishment of CAD department at 1983 February (by prof. V. P. Lvov), CAD issues become my primarily field of activities. At 1987 CAD department was transformed to separate CAD Scientific-Research Center.
