Peter was formerly a Lt Col in the British Army serving in the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, where he held appointments covering engineering, logistic and management roles as well as operational command, his last post being MA/MGO.On leaving in 1991, he joined Brown & Root, a US based engineering and Project Management company, to lead their Aerospace Special Projects Division which had business in the UK, US and in Asia. After two years he was appointed Vice President Business Acquisition for the Government Services business where he positioned the company as a lead player in defence Private Finance Initiative (PFI) deals and in the contractor support of military operations. For five years he chaired KBR Fasttrax Limited which is delivering the UK Heavy Equipment Transporter capability including the first use of Sponsored Reserves. Over this same period he was a shareholder Director at the Atomic Weapons Establishment and at RAF Valley. He was the Co-Chair of the original MoD/Industry Working Group in 1998-2000 and did much to develop the current Contractors on Deployed Operations Policy.He was Chairman of the UK Defence Manufacturers Association 2004 to 2006 and over this period was a member of the National Defence Industries Council. He is currently Co-Chair, with Maj Gen Jeff Mason, of the NDIC Contractor Support to Operations Steering Group.In 2002 he became Chief Executive of Aspire Defence Ltd, a Joint Venture between Carillion, Innisfree, KBR and HSBC which is delivering an £11bn major project to improve and manage the Army’s barracks infrastructure and support services for some 18,000 soldiers at Aldershot and across Salisbury Plain.
