Architect, urban designer and urban strategist and founding principal of Smith & Tzannes, I have played a significant role in housing policy and planning frameworks in NSW over the past 20 years.I bring to projects the advantage of having been on ‘both sides of the fence’. With experience in private practice, local and state government, he brings to the project knowledge and experience on detailed planning and policy advice and a political acumen to ensure a smooth process for your project.PLANNING REFORM AND COMPLYING DEVELOPMENTFrom Technical advisor for BASIX, affordable housing, SEPP 65 for residential flat buildings complying development, child care policy, e-planning systems, site specific development control plan and the rationalising of the development assessment lodgement requirements Peter either provided technical advice to government at local or state level or sits on advisory panels.SUSTAINABILITYA strong theme of sustainably underlies all the work done by Peter. As a GreenStar professional he is involved in the delivery of sustainable outcomes for the built projects.Peter was a consultant to the NSW DPE in the development of the BASIX tool, providing research into the Thermal Comfort and multi-dwelling tools and preparing guidelines and interface design.He is was a part-time lecturer at the UTS, Sydney in Thermal and Environmental Design within the Architecture program from 2000-2009 and continues to tutor in sustainable design.HOUSING AND URBAN DESIGNPeter has had a strong interest in urban design and multi-dwelling housing. As well as designing and documenting apartment buildings, he is also involved in developing policy and championing quality urban outcomes.
