Peter R. Smith is an independent defense consultant while serving as CEO and President of PRS Consulting based in Saunderstown, RI. PRS Consulting offers business development expertise in the international market space related to a variety of Defense products and services. Mr. Smith has extensive experience in a variety of Multi-Domain Awareness (MDA) activities as well as in the international Naval business area. During 16 years with Raytheon Mr. Smith was active in business development activities in a wide variety of countries including Germany, Portugal, Romania, Ukraine, Japan, Korea, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, The UAE and India. In addition to his consulting business Mr. Smith provides instruction and mentoring in Navigation, Seamanship and Ship Handling operations supporting the U.S. Navy's Surface Warfare Officer's School in Newport, RI. Mr. Smith is a former U.S. Navy Captain having served as a Surface Warfare Officer. During his naval career Mr. Smith was the Commanding Officer of the PERRY class Guided Missile Frigate USS BOONE (FFG-28) & the AEGIS Guided Missile Cruiser USS GETTYSBURG (CG-64). Mr. Smith also served as the Chief of Staff to the Commander, U.S. THIRD Fleet in San Diego, California and held a variety of long range planning, programming and budgeting positions on the Chief of Naval Operations staff in Washington, DC. Mr. Smith is a lifetime member of the Surface Navy Association (SNA) and is a former president of the Washington, DC SNA chapter and former member of the SNA National Board of Directors. Mr. Smith is also a member of the Gettysburg Society, the Navy League of the United States, the Harvard Business School Association of Southeastern New England. Mr. Smith is also a member of the President’s Council and Board of Trustees Strategic Planning Committee of Providence College, Providence, Rhode Island.
