Peter is a business development leader with over 25 years of marine industry experience, including several as an ASD tug operator and in ship operations management as a Port Captain. Peter brings a unique combination of field experience and formal education to marine projects. He holds a Master’s degree in Marine Transportation Management and Policy and a certificate in Global Trade, Transportation, and Logistics from the University of Washington Foster School of Business. He also holds a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with the following endorsements:• Master 1600 Gross Tons (US Domestic Tonnage)• Master of Towing Vessels, Near Coastal Peter’s areas of expertise include: marine operations and logistics planning; navigation and ship handling; tug and barge operations; and break-bulk/project cargo handling, stowage, and sea-fastening. He also has extensive knowledge on maritime activity in the Arctic and has authored multiple whitepapers on the topic of Arctic shipping policy and the environment.At Glosten, Peter has contributed on a variety of large-scale industry projects, including a number of challenging marine operations and logistics projects in the Panama Canal Zone, Sakhalin Island, central Pacific Ocean, and Alaska. In recent years, Peter has led the development of Glosten's Harbor, Multi-Purpose, General Towing, and Ship Assist series tugs. Prior to joining Glosten, Peter was responsible for oversight and management of a fleet of handymax ships operating on an international service route. In that capacity he planned and executed numerous complex marine transportation projects. Peter also sailed for several years as Captain and First Mate on harbor assist tugs and coastal line haul tugs in Puget Sound, British Columbia, and Alaska. His duties included coastal and harbor towing operations, ship handling, and tactical barge shifting and maneuvering. He was also responsible for general management of the vessel, including supervision of the crew and basic equipment maintenance. Peter also has experience on passenger vessels, including a lengthy captain assignment in a remote area of the central Pacific Ocean.
