CurrentAs an MST, my expertise is comprised of Pollution investigation and response, vessel inspection, and facility inspection. As a pollution investigator, my duties are to conduct the assessment of pollution incidents and provide resource assessment and management needed to initiate and complete site restoration. The location of the source, mitigation of the discharge, and determining a responsible party are some of the main objectives of the job. As a vessel inspector, I routinely inspect international and domestic commercial vessels over 500 gross tons. Vessels inspected include cruise ships, oil tankers, breakbulk, container vessels, barges, and private yachts. The scope of my inspections included records and materiel review to ensure regulatory compliance of ships management, navigation systems, lifesaving systems, and mechanical systems. The regulatory standards were primarily from the International Maritime Organization, the United States Code, and the Code of Federal Regulations. My facility inspections included the inspection, regulation, and certification of the operation, management, and security of US waterway facilities such as the Matson Terminal in Honolulu. Other responsibilities included the proper preparation to conduct these multifaceted inspections and investigations in hazardous dynamic environments. I have been trained and have delivered training on the use of 4 Gas meters, Radiation Detectors, Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBD’s), Etc.
