Responsible for leading Exeter YMCA, a local Christian charity delivering a range of services to support and empower disadvantaged people in communities across Devon, through over 9 years of sustained growth and development.Key achievements:• Increased economic sustainability through planned expansion and diversifying income streams, including through creation of income-generating capital and revenue projects, and creating a strong fundraising and community relations team;• Increased supported housing provision for homeless young people from 39 to 51 bedspaces, funding by capital grants from HCA and others;• Successful negotiation of a community asset transfer of former local authority Youth Centre;• Creation of Community Job Clubs, helping 300 disadvantaged people each year improve their employability;• Creation of Youth Services department (youth work, support for children at risk of exclusion) helping over 500 young people per year;• Development of mentoring project for offenders during the critical period immediately post-release from custody;• Creation of volunteering programme to support YMCA work, including client-facing, fundraising and "back office" roles;• Creation of Ten:10 internship programme for young adults providing practical experience with training and mentoring;• Creation of fundraising and community relations department (capital and revenue grants, mass participation events, corporate support, public and major donors), greatly increasing media presence and income for frontline work;• Extensive networking to develop strong links and partnership with related agencies (statutory and voluntary), policy-makers, the business community and faith communities;• Developed the ethos of the organisation, ensuring that its values were lived out in organisational life and service delivery;• Chair of YMCA England Brand Task Group, overseeing the highly successful re-branding of the YMCA Federation in England and Wales.
