My most recent employment was in a primary special needs school. This has trained me to work with a diverse range of children and needs than I had previously. A lot of the children in our care have additional needs; So, it was crucial to me to learn new ways of communicating, of managing behaviour and tracking achievement and progress differently to the traditional National Curriculum markers of progress. I feel this year has equipped me with new skills that I wish to take further in my journey and aid children that struggle in other education or childcare settings.

After University I worked within a private nursery setting with children aged from 6 months old up to 4 years old, primarily based in the preschool room. This means I worked alongside a large team of staff to maintain ratios and safety of the children but, also within several smaller focused teams (age range dependant) to meet and track developmental progress, maintain children interest and meet the needs of children and parents alike. Communication and building strong relationships with the children and parents was hugely important as they set the expectations of us, so we are expected to rise to meet them. Building relationships with both parties is very important as this is a care-based role; So, people need to feel confident in our abilities and knowledge. Like any employer would want to have faith and confidence in us as employees to do your job to best of your ability.
