Process Engineer specializing in the design of aseptic filling operations.Worked a range of capital projects, some greenfield facilities, others were retrofitting existing facilities.Also worked on capital projects from conceptual design, to construction turn over, and those stages in between.Role involved developing processes, and defining facility requirements. Developed process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment lists, and facility layouts. These deliverables require coordination and input among all engineering disciplines, architects, and facility designers.

I had the fortune of working a cooperative education program through Duke Energy. This program involved alternating between my college education and full time employment from semester to semester. While at Duke Energy I worked with subject matter experts, their waste water program group, and a large capital projects engineering group.Coal Combustion Project Engineering Group: I was responsible for oversight and direction for Consulting Engineering Firms. I provided site specific information, and provided contact between sub-consultants and station personal. I assisted in the research and coordination of large capital projects intended for environmental compliance.Strategic Engineering - Water Programs:This group's objective is to keep fossil hydro operations environmentally compliant and continually evaluating new and best available technologies for water treatment. I modeled hydraulic profiles of acid injection piping for better control of the Waste Water Treatment operations. I performed field tests and conducted purge water sampling for matrix characterization and technology evaluation.Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) & Cycle Chemistry Subject Matter Expert Group:This group is a company wide resource on FGD equipment and cycle chemistry. This group can be seen leading field tests and equipment inspections. I developed equipment performance tools, based on empirical data, and had to opportunity to perform an FGD equipment inspection.

The research focus is in plants response to environmental cues and stimuli, particularly from the perspective of the phosphoinositide-mediated signaling pathway. This ubiquitous pathway is associated with response to abiotic and biotic stresses. Those stresses include gravity, drought, cold, and pathogen attack. I studied and characterized protein interactions, organized and documented experiments, collected data, and analyzed results. I have provided weekly status updates during lab meetings.I was later awarded a Biotechnology Research Fellowship. The research objective of the project was to understand how phospholipid synthesis is regulated during cotton fiber development. I proposed to identify interacting partners of the two key regulatory enzymes involved in phospholipid biosynthesis. I had to prioritize, plan, and execute my own experiments; collected and interpreted the data. I had the opportunity to present my work at the Plant Molecular Biology Consortium.
