In January 2023 I started an internal on-boarding program at Unispace to enable a smooth transition from my previous Senior Architect role to Project Management. Following initial training sessions and shadowing my more senior colleagues, we set the focus on hands-on experience. I got to lead a 3500 m2 pre-construction project for a market leading international food and beverages company through the strategy and concept design phases, successfully managing the client team, the internal design team, the budget and the timeline. Apart from this, I worked on multiple RFP responses, coordinating our resources to meet tight deadlines promptly. Unispace's methodology is unique in many senses and differs from that of the conventional architecture offices. So is the way how Unispace allocates functions to roles. As a senior architect at Unispace one has to wear a different hat each day, sometimes in each meeting. In this role I had most of the conventional Project Leader's tasks on my table, such as driving the creative work, managing the internal design team, coordinating the consultant teams, being an active player in client meetings, etc. At the same time, depending on project needs, I often had to adapt very quickly and act as my own draftsman, a quality surveyor on site visits, an assistant project manager, a graphic designer for neat looking handouts, or even an AV-IT expert at times. During my first year at Unispace I grew a lot as an Architect. Coming from the conventional/traditional architecture world, I was first shocked then amazed by how differently projects can be run, when time really is of the essence. Also, Unispace acting as a total contractor, allowed me to see the projects from "the other side", significantly deepening my understanding of the construction branch. Using my vast experience with ArchiCAD and the Building Information Modeling methodology, I took on a secondary role as the office's first BIM Manager. After a challenging landing in Switzerland, I finally found my place, where I was surrounded by genuinely great and respectful people. During my near 3 years at one of Canton Aargau's leading architecture offices, I learned a lot about how the Swiss construction industry and its processes work. Touched countless projects ranging from small to big, from early-phase to construction-phase, from residential to public. Being a Designer at Haworth means a lot of things. Apart from conceptual interior designing, space planning and preparing 3D visualisation, one is responsible for managing his own schedule and projects, keeping close contact with Sales Representatives, Product Line Managers, D&I Managers, 3rd party service providers, dealers and Clients from all around Europe, and also a range of sales support /pre-sales activities. With knowledge gained through my childhood years spent in and out of the restaurant, I occasionally coordinated a staff of 20-45+ people and oversaw the whole operation in our family owned business. The capacity of the place allows for hosting -at extreme- 5 wedding parties simultaneously, causing a tough situation in terms of resource allocation and timing/scheduling.Gained valuable experience in treating even the most diverse group of colleagues, suppliers and clients with attention, respect and cunning. During my diploma semester, I worked part-time for the Interior Design Studio which did some of the most busy and famous Restaurants, Pubs and Clubs of downtown Budapest, such as Doboz, Kraft, Mazel Tov and Ötkert.I created construction drawings for custom bar furniture, residential interior projects and assisted in the design proccess of a new restaurant-club-fashion house near St. Stephen's Basilica in the heart of Budapest.http://81font.com/
