Uk&I

In this role I was responsible for leading the UK&I Bid Studio, a specialist team of 21 staff comprising bid managers, graphic designers and writers whose focus is to lead the pursuit of key opportunities across the UK&I, for all market sectors. My team was also responsible for driving best practice in bidding processes through the training of staff at all levels, and for spearheading knowledge management and systems. In the past twelve months my team led or significantly contributed to the winning of $600m worth of fees, representing a success rate of 73%. I was responsible for team leadership, tactical planning, reporting to the UK&I Leadership, relationship building throughout the company and financial management.

As BD Director for AECOM’s new Resources & Industry sector, I was responsible for bringing together the plans of sub-sector leads into a cohesive strategy, leading the establishment of an associated CAM system and building a targeted marketing and strategic pursuits programme. I was responsible for building a reporting system and accountable for performance against corporate targets. My aim was to maintain a clear link between the department’s vision, our strategic plan and our tactical actions. In the third year of this structure the industrial sector achieved 130% of its stretch revenue target. Clients included large multi-nationals such as Jaguar Land Rover, Novartis, Magnox, DHL and BP, as well as healthcare, defence and infrastructure government departments.

Following the acquisition of Scott Wilson by URS, I reported directly to the UK&I Chief Executive with responsibilities for various business development activities including management of key pursuits. Key wins included a number of national frameworks for healthcare, defence and infrastructure departments.

Following the acquisition of Ferguson McIlveen by Scott Wilson I became responsible for business development across the Scotland & Ireland region. Reporting directly to the regional Managing Director, my duties included analysis and reporting on business performance. I led the development of all support systems and processes, managing a dedicated bid team and taking responsibility for key opportunities.

I was appointed to take responsibility for business development activities including strategic planning, marketing and bid management. I introduced a professional approach to business development including best practice bid management systems and processes. Promoted to Associate reporting to the Partnership with responsibility for key pursuits across the UK&I market. During this time our tendering success rate averaged 1 in 3, significantly exceeding the market average and positioning the company as a leading provider in our target markets.
