Front of house role in Search Engine, the museum’s library and archive centre. Part of a team that worked from the opening in late 2007 to provide a successful customer service within this new facility in the museum which is visited by in excess of 40,000 visitors per annum.Welcoming customers and helping them to use the facilities. Operation of the registration desk for researchers, taking bookings and maintaining accurate records of archive readers and the collections accessed. Processing of copy drawing orders for engineering drawings. Retrieval of collections from archive stores & maintaining invigilation of reading rooms to ensure collections are protected from damage. Assisting with cataloguing and processing of new additions to the library collections. Helping to research and provide answers to the many written enquiries relating to the museum’s collections and general railway history. Guiding tours of the archive stores for both the general museum visitors and also for organised group tours.
