I had a heart by-pass operation in 2012 and am now fully recovered. I feel able to work again but would like to find a part-time or short term contract posts if possible.I recently enrolled at the e-learning college of the Trading Standards Institute. I have now completed 20 hours of study as recommended by the institute to show Continuing professional Development (CPD). Included in those 20 hours are 10 hours relating to the enforcement of the Food Safety Act and subordinate legislation. The Food Standards Agency for the UK requires that those enforcing the Food Safety Act should complete at least 10 hours CPD relating to food safety enforcement every year.
I am active in my church and am a member of the Parish Forum. I am president of my local branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a volunteer worker for Action Heart and for the Brierley Hill Project. St. Vincent de Paul is an international charity which gives practical help to those in need. Most of our time is spent in visiting people in their own home, in nursing homes and hospitals to reduce any feeling of isolation they may have but the organisation does may other things.Action Heart is a local charity which acts to rehabilitate people after a stroke or heart problems. This is done by instituting exercise programmes and encouraging healthy eating.Another charity in which I have recently become involved is the Brierley Hill Project/Food Bank where I help people with housing, employment or debt issues.I have recently started to study again and I have joined the Trading Standards Institute e-learning college.
My Volunteering Is All In The Brierley Hill And Dudley Areas.
In charity #1 I visit and befriend people who sometimes find hard to get out and about. In charity #2 I work in the charity's thrift shop on one morning per week.In charity #3 I help people with filling out forms and their C.V. Where needed I also help with the food bank which operates along side the Brierley Hill Project.

I am mainly working from home advising new Food Business Start-Ups on food labelling but have recently been getting out on site doing enforcement duties. Such a lot has changed in the 11 years since I retired from Sandwell MBC which means that I am learning something new every day.
I was a Senior TSO and my main activity was general inspection. I was the Authority's main contact with IFSP (International Federation of Spirit Producers) and took an interest reducing counterfeit and adulterated spirits.

I did the full range of enforcement duties, including routine inspection, complaints, sampling and advice to traders. I largely worked on my own initiative but was happy to assist any colleagues when tackling counterfeiting or surveys of any kind. At the time I was with Sandwell they carried out a large number of metrology verifications and I was available as needed for that task.
