As the principal designer for the QUT Centre for Future Enterprise, Pete brings over a decade of applied research in designing systems, strategies, organisations, processes, products, and services. Specialising in complex, highly regulated industries, Pete's work focuses on digital and transformation challenges for governments, large corporates, and socio-technical (eco)systems. His expertise lies in using design to help make academic research and practice accessible to organisations, effectively working with diverse users, stakeholders, academics, regulators, and governance functions. Notable achievements include redesigning government revenue service delivery processes, developing sector-wide scam mitigation solutions for Australian financial services, and mapping the integration of genomics research into public health systems. In an academic context, Pete and colleagues have pioneered the Research Innovation Sprint method. This embedded and accessible approach combines relevant research, government, organisational, and human knowledge systems to tackle modern, complex challenges. Developed in over 40 projects and adopted internationally, this innovative applied research method earned a Gold Good Design Award in 2024, exemplifying Pete's commitment to fostering collaboration between humans, businesses and research.
