I joined NFU Mutual Pitsford as a Sales Associate for the Commercial Insurance Department in January 2013. Although Commercial Insurance is my main focus, I am also licensed to sell our Motor, Home, Farming, Travel and Pet Insurances.My role includes prospecting new clients by means of telephone calls, face to face appointments, networking and an element of cold calling. The sales are done both over the phone and face to face depending on the clients preference. We offer our clients a 5 star policy with excellent levels of customer service. During my time at Staysure I had different roles as a Sales Adviser for the following types of Insurance; International Medical, Private Healthcare and Home & Motor. The main focus of my job was speaking to people of many different nationalities from all over the World and arranging their Medical Insurance. The section of the department I joined was in a very poor state when I took on the role. After working out where the faults in the Department were and what systems needed improving, I turned the International Medical Insurance section into a successful, profitable part of our department.Unfortunately, due to lack of Company focus, the entire Medical Insurance Department was closed just 4 months after I joined and I was moved into the Home & Motor department.I felt like this was a backwards step for me and I did not feel challenged enough. I enjoyed my short time with Staysure and gained some valuable experience in a new product but I wanted to push myself further and take on more demanding challenges.

In my 5 years with Best Deal Insurance I went from a complete novice to one of the top two Sales Advisers for the Home Insurance department.I joined the company having only done factory work previously and had no sales or office experience at all. I worked extremely hard from the beginning and always gave 100%.My role was contacting clients by telephone and discussing their Home Insurance needs. I did not focus on what the client currently had on their policy, but what they did not have and how that gap in cover could affect them. I aimed to upsell as much as possible so the client could get full value for their premium but also feel confident that they had the right policy and cover in place. When possible, I would also get a referral from the client for one of our Life Insurance Advisers to call.During my time with the Company, I went from a Trainee Sales Adviser to Senior Sales Adviser and finally Executive Sales Adviser. I also ran my own team on a number of occasions.I won the Adviser of the Month award on a number of different occasions, but my greatest achievement was to with the award consecutively in my final 6 months with the Company.After 5 years with a great Company, I decided I needed a change and to try and learn and develop elsewhere.
