Accepted to West Point when I first entered the service, but turned it down as Viet Nam was on the front burner. Applied for and was accepted to Officer's Candidate School, class was delayed, not once but three times as the military was phasing down after the end of activities in South East Asia. Was originally planning on making it a career, but personnel 3-4 grades my junior received more money as they were married and I wasn't & decided to pursue civilian career.
