Pete retired as Vice President of for Quality Assurance from Vertex Aerospace in 2020. He had been with Vertex since July 2005, and worked in various leadership roles including Operations, Human Resources, Corp. Ethics, Financial Risk Management, and Quality Assurance. Prior to joining Vertex, Pete spent twelve years with Mississippi Chemical Corporation (MCC) in Risk Management, Loss Control, and Chemical Process Safety Management (PSM). At MCC, he was responsible for leading technical teams of engineers in managing the on-going integrity of the entirety of that company’s chemical manufacturing facilities within the US and Caribbean.Pete earned his B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1982 and served in the Army from '82 to '93. As a Regular Army officer, he qualified as a tank commander, earned the Parachutist’s and Recruiter’s badge and Aviator’s wings. After serving as a Company Commander, he was Chief of the Operations Research Studies Branch at the Aviation Center and won the Department of the Army’s award for Excellence in Analysis ('90). Pete graduated from the Army’s Command & General Staff College in 1991 and earned his MBA from Mississippi College in 1999. He maintains an FAA commercial/instrument pilot certificate for MEL, SEL, rotary wing, and glider aircraft, is a CFI for airplanes and gliders, is a past member of the MSU Center for International Strategic Studies and has previously served on the board of directors for the Madison (Mississippi) Chamber of Commerce. Pete is a Lifetime Member of the Commemorative Air Force, U.S. Cavalry Association, and the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation.Pete is a proven leader with hands-on managerial, operational, and policy-making experience in organizations with multiple locations. Tested experience in ethics and corporate compliance, project management, analytical research, quality assurance, engineering, logistics, human resources, and sales.
