I worked at the fibre rope manufacturing facility in Coatbridge, just outside Glasgow.I was responsible for the improvement of the manufacturing process of fibre ropes by designing new measurement systems to reduce waste, improving work instructions and refining existing rope designs.During my time I was also part of a team responsible for the tendering of work in the millions of pounds, of which my contribution was the design of fibre rope to suit the purpose as well as the costing estimates to produce the rope. My technical input guided the process in understanding of the requirements placed by third party rope standards such as DNV on the tendering process.
