Leading the browser department for all Embedded Products in Opera. This included the Opera browser for all mobile and embedded platforms, such as TVs and Set-top boxes. I built a product and engineering organization that was capable of delivering a full web browser on Android, Windows Mobile, BREW and Symbian/s60 in a coordinated and aligned process. A lot of the technical focus around 2010-2011 was around performance and memory on mobile. This was a very technical role, but also where I got to lead and inspire leaders and teams at scale. The department was around 100 people in total, spread across six geographically separated sites.

The journey as a developer in Opera has been quite a ride. From a fresh C++ developer in a small startup company all the way to being the main architect and technically responsible for big mobile customer projects. Worked on the inner parts of the browser engine, but most of the time in a mobile context. I have been on the technical journey from Nokia Communicator with 2Mb RAM via the plethora of proprietary mobile operating systems and the era of Symbian to the rise of Android and iOS. Been part of small and big development teams and have worked with customers such as Sonyericsson, Vodafone, Nokia, Motorola. In the later part of my developer career in Opera, I was running some bigger projects with teams allocated to it, but was mostly informally leading others from a technical standpoint. During the period 2005--2010 I grew our development site in Gothenburg from 2 persons up to around 40 engineers. So, my technical contributions aside, I also built up an office and engineering environment and recruited awesome engineers to Opera from all over the world.
