I am Peter Warner, a passionate and award-winning broadcast journalist with a degree in Journalism from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and a minor in Applied Physiology and Sports Management. My fascination with broadcast journalism began in childhood, inspired by the dynamic storytelling of ESPN and local news.At SMU, I quickly advanced from producing and hosting weekly segments for Press Pass to becoming an Executive Producer for both Press Pass and Hilltop Now, SMU’s flagship news programs. My innovations included launching a College Gameday-inspired football show, reintroducing full weather forecasts and live sideline coverage, and creating the weekly podcast State of the Stangs. One of my proudest achievements was establishing the Hilltop Now Weather Producer position, where I transformed weather reporting with sophisticated radar analysis and custom graphics. This initiative earned top honors at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Awards, including First Place in Program Production Video. My experience extends beyond the newsroom. I provided play-by-play commentary for SMU Club Hockey, produced a commercial for Honeycomb Technologies, and honed my marketing skills at COVID Inc. My technical proficiency spans iNews, Adobe Premiere, and SONY NX5U camera operations, equipping me with a versatile skill set for any media environment.I am excited to further my expertise by pursuing a B.S. in Meteorology at Mississippi State University to receive my NWA Certificate. I aim to merge my journalism background with meteorology to deliver compelling, accurate weather broadcasts that inform and engage audiences.Connect with me at petercw14@gmail.com or (602) 295-0492.
