I started Watson Plumbing and Heating Services in 2012. I employed my first apprentice in 2015 and now have a sizeable staff force and we are always looking to improve and naturally grow. We cover all types of plumbing and heating works, across all sectors. Keeping the clients requirements at the forefront of our priorities. We carry out Oil, Natural Gas, L.P.G, catering equipment, servicing and landlord checks, breakdowns and repairs. I worked as a domestic gas service and breakdown engineer on DGHP contract, covering mostly Dumfries, Sanquar and Kirkconnel. Carrying out annual servicing on combi boilers, regular boilers and fires. We worked on a one in five on-call rota system, designed for 24/7 engineer attendance on all breakdowns. This experience developed fault finding, trace and repair, workload organisational skills.

Working on a government scheme run by Scottish Gas to provide central heating initially for the elderly who qualified then, when the scheme developed and more funding became available this opened up the criteria to home owners that were on benefits though-out Dumfries and Galloway. I started as an installation engineer, working on 2 day time frames to install gas central heating and 3 days to fit oil central heating. Although the time frame was tight, this developed speed through skill. This was enforced by Scottish Gas doing random site inspections for quality and control.I soon became responsible for helping to carry out initial surveys and customer care, sizing, designing the heating system and producing bill of quantities.This experience along with the trust and responsibility that I was given, has helped develop my strengths as an installer and customer communication skills to the highest standard.

Working for my fathers company, I gained an apprenticeship in domestic plumbing and heating. As a company we covered all domestic, commercial and industrial sectors, specialising in pipe line fabrication for example steam lines in factories such as Pirrelli and Hospital refurbs, Schools, Food factories, Police stations and Council buildings. This experience has been invaluable to my development, dealing with large building contractors on site, the diversity of the types of works has helped me have a wide range of knowledge that led me to starting my own company.
