Reporting to the Director of Operations, supported people managers and their local and virtual teams with detailed project planning and resource scheduling assets in the reverse engineering industry.• Developed and built awareness for the first release of harmonized project management processes and job aid tool kit which increased levels of communication, transparency and project control.• Through stakeholder engagement and process analysis, evolved basic project plans into detailed WBSs for circuit and teardown project types which enabled the organization to monitor and better manage project timelines and cost performance.• Developed NetSuite reports to support the closer monitoring of projects that were crossing acceptable thresholds and to support project reviews.• Implemented formal processes and tools for project reviews to capture lessons learned and recommendations for process improvements.

To help ensure efficient tracking and delivery of CADTH's products and to promote standards and continuous improvement across the Agency, the PMO supports Project Owners, Project Teams and Senior Management with a variety of services including planning, scheduling, risk & issue management, progress monitoring, facilitation of meetings and the gathering of lessons learned.Two of my key objectives were “Harmonize and streamline project management practices” and “Assist in optimizing CADTH’s research and production capacity”. I starting with customer needs analysis and alignment of business language. Partnered with the IT Team, I was a member of the standing SharePoint Project Server Steering Committee which directed the implementation of Microsoft’s SharePoint 2010 and Project Server 2010 (plus Project Web Access – PWA). We designed and refined dashboards, business reports and resource capacity models which led to an unprecedented level of performance reporting, capacity forecasting and organizational transparency. I developed and distributed communications to keep stakeholders informed, participated in training staff and management in the use of the reports and solicited user feedback. Collaboration with HR and Finance saw the introduction of CADTH’s TimeCapture tool which shed light on project costing and resource utilization.With input from the team, I developed the "PMO Charter" and the "Project Management Framework and Methodologies" documents to promote common understandings across the PMO and organization. I championed the adoption of LEAN methodologies, drove process alignment and documentation initiatives and introduced standardized tools to operationalize project management for standard products. The combination of these and other initiatives enabled the team to accommodate significant increases in organizational output (over 35%) without growing headcount.

During an organizational restructuring in 2010 which saw CADTH move to a matrix business model, and based on successes leading the cross functional Publishing team, I was requested to also lead the PMO which was the consolidated project management/coordination functions from 3 separate program areas. As a centralized multi-disciplinary team, we provided Copy Editing, Substantive Editing, Translation, French Revision, Formatting and Logistics Support services to product development teams, Corporate Communications, Knowledge Exchange Team and Executive Office. We managed external vendors for graphic design, printing and mail house services and managed the storage and distribution of CADTH's printed materials, branded promotional goods and conference booth/displays.We drove several improvement initiatives during this time which resulted in a reduction in re-work, improved team efficiencies and final-end product quality enhancements. Our collaboration with the project management/coordination functions from the siloed program areas and the Web Team helped streamline production process flows, optimize quality/sign-off steps and shorten timelines while the CADTH Writing Style Guide and the CADTH Abbreviations & Acronyms documents increased consistency in language across information products.

Supported a diverse internal customer community in a fast-paced environment, through a multi-disciplinary team consisting of formatters, publishers and production staff who produced Chipworks’ information products including reports for litigation support and competitive analysis in the microprocessor and microsystems industry. With deadlines almost every day, this centralized services team labelled captured images, formatted reports, printed stacks of content and assembled "just-in-time" binders for extremely tight deadlines. Lots of hard work and fun doing it.

Print sales: business development, cold calls, lead management, knocking on doors and shaking hands.Customer service: needs analysis, customer relationship management, production coordination, quality control and delivery.I take my hat off to all commissioned sales people - it's a lot harder than it looks! Telecommunications hardware support: Line drawings and network diagrams for user manuals and installation guides.

This role began as the Manager of Graphic Services (with a team consisting of Illustrators, Graphic Designers, 3D Modellers/Animators, Multimedia Authors). The team introduced digital photos, 3D renderings/animations and audio into several HTML and Flash-based online training pilots. During a departmental re-org, scope expanded to include Publishers, a FrameScript Guru and Information Technology & Systems Specialists who maintained our publishing labs and tools required for our PDF and SGML-based outputs (FrameMaker and FrameScript).

As member of the growing Customer Documentation team, I worked closely with technical writers, hardware and software engineers, and industrial designers to plan and develop hardware illustrations and network diagrams during product development cycles. Created artwork for notice cards, binder covers, CDs, data sheets, etc, and interfaced with print vendors to ensure deliverables of the highest quality. We were a close-knit award-winning team (Society of Technical Communicators - STC)!

Fresh out of college. MainStreet Studios (a subsidiary of Newbridge Networks) was primarily the Graphics & A/V team from Mitel camped out at Baxter Place - behind the Ottawa Citizen building. Lots of excitememt: we were a small energetic team working in a fast-paced environment!Starting with a stand-up drafting board, Rapidograph pens, Letraset , rubilith and a darkroom for the PMT machine, this is where I was first introduced to the Macintosh computer, Adobe Illustrator v1.1 and Quark Xpress.
