CurrentAES-NJ Cogen Co., Inc. owns, operates and maintains approximately 100 micro-cogeneration units in the New York/ New Jersey area. The company also owns, operates and maintains several natural gas engine driven chiller projects and several energy efficient boiler plant upgrade projects in the New York/ New Jersey area. Under Mr. Westerhoff’s ownership, as the bona fide licensed plumber representative and majority stockholder, the company is a licensed general and mechanical contractor in the City of New York, a licensed master plumbing contractor, a licensed backflow prevention device testing contractor and public works contractor in the State of New Jersey. In the past, the company has performed numerous energy cost savings and energy cost containment feasibility studies for NYSERDA, as a sub-contractor for Malcolm Pirnie Engineers, Inc., including several pulp and paper mill projects in the Adirondacks, a feasibility study for NYSERDA to de-centralize the downtown Buffalo steam distribution system and several smaller projects in the downstate area. In 2002, AES-NJ entered into an agreement with American DG Energy, Inc., a public company with stock currently traded on the NASDAQ, to jointly develop, own and operate energy cost savings projects in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. A special purpose company, American DG New York, LLC was subsequently formed in 2002. AES-NJ is a 49% equity owner in the company. AES-NJ currently has in excess of $ 7 million invested in the company, which owns approximately 45 operating assets. AES-NJ is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the majority of the assets.
