Dr. Peter Madsen is an award-winning educator, trainer, writer and producer of educational media in the field of applied ethics. He teaches courses in business, professional, environmental and computer ethics in CMU’s Department of Philosophy. Madsen also teaches graduate management ethics and ethics and public policy courses in CMU’s Heinz College and at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University of Pittsburgh. He is a Visiting Professor at the American University of Paris. Madsen is a co-editor of Essentials of Business Ethics and Essentials of Government Ethics and three collections on international corporate responsibility. He is author of numerous academic journal articles and has given many conference papers in applied ethics. He has also produced award-wining educational multimedia materials and online courses in applied ethics. Madsen has served as a consultant and has delivered numerous executive education programs, seminars, workshops and conference presentations to practitioners from many fields in the private, public and nonprofit sectors in his capacity as the past executive director of the Center for the Advancement of Applied Ethics at Carnegie Mellon. For example, he has designed and conducted ethics and diversity training programs both domestically and internationally for such organizations as PPG Industries, Inc., Alcoa, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Duquesne Light Company, the Innova Group, the Edison Electric Institute, Consolidated Natural Gas Company and Phillips Petroleum Company.
